Find a Marathon

There are hundreds of marathons out there to choose from. And any of them would probably make a good race for a first-timer. Which one is best for you all depends upon your preferences.

Big marathons may be intimidating to newbies, for example, due to their sheer size — or the large crowds may be comforting or inspiring. Some people want to run a scenic course to help distract them as they run, while others definitely want to avoid a tough race, and so seek the most pancake-flat course they can find. Staying close to home is a big factor for certain runners, while some prefer international destinations so they can combine a vacation with their big race. There are no right or wrong choices. As with any physical activity, make sure to consult your physician before you begin.

See:
Big Marathons (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Marine Corps, etc)
Flat Courses (Indianapolis, Detroit, Erie, Houston, Milwaukee, etc)
International Races (Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, South Korea, Okinawa, etc)
Local Races--Add your own favorite local race!
Races for a Cause (Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, American Heart Assoc., etc)
Scenic Marathons (Big Sur, Durango, Sedona, Anchorage, etc)

Share photos from your race!

Find the page with the race you participated in, then add your photos to the gallery for that page.

Don't see your race listed in this section? It's easy to add a page for it. (Click the "Add a new page" button in the upper right, or visit the help page for tips.)
